Flexstar Technology Announces Their First New Green Product
the 132B for the HDD and SSD Markets

Fremont, California. September 17, 2008 - Flexstar Technology, Inc. (Flexstar) the worldwide leading supplier of storage test systems, today announced the first in a series of all new Green products the Green 132B. The 132B is a 132 port 66 SBC burn-in rack that was developed using state of the art technology to reduce the environmental impact of the hardware. The 132B is the first completely re-designed system from Flexstar in four years. The Green 132B supports 132 3.5”, 2.5” or 1.8” storage devices either HDD’s or SSD’s. Customers have three options on interfaces PATA, SATA up to 6G and SAS up to 6G. The 132B supports all previously written customer tests scripts from older Flexstar products making the transition to the 132B a simple process.

In addition to the 132B there are two other Green models to choose from, the Green 66B in a 1:1 configuration and the Green 264B in a 4:1 2.5” and below system.

Says Tim Beck Vice President, Marketing and Major Account Sales; “the new Green 132B has met or exceeded all of our customers design criteria with regard to saving energy. The system uses 40% less power, saves 32% on HVAC, has more test ports, smaller footprint and has a 33% improvement on temperature gradient (+/- 2C). When you consider all of these savings, the cost per port is extremely low when compared to other solutions” Beck added “we will be announcing more energy savings Green systems over the next 12 months”.

Power and HVAC’s rising costs are a major concern worldwide especially in countries in the Pacific Rim where Flexstar has a huge customer base. Anthony Lavia President and CEO had this insight into the new system and Flexstar new Green offering “Customers are now starting to understand that the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) entails more than just the price of the hardware; after just a couple of years, the one-time cost of the Green 132B may be eclipsed by the cost of the energy to operated it. Many of our customer run long term reliability tests for 24 hours a day lasting up to eight months. By replacing their old test systems with a Green 132B it can save them tens of thousands annually per system just on energy costs; the payback period is very short. The 132B also offers a significant reduction in cost per port, which together with the energy savings and our CBP (service bundled) buying program, achieves new levels of affordability for all drive manufacturers and their end users”

Flexstar’s Green 132B delivers accurate, flexible and repeatable testing, which Flexstar is known for in the industry, in a new energy savings package.

The Flexstar Green 132B is in production and available immediately from Flexstar and Flexstar business partners. Flexstar is offering generous trade-in allowances on older Flexstar burn-in racks and other vendor’s testers. The Green 132B deliveries are 5-6 weeks ARO.
