Flexstar Technology Announces Their First New Green Product
for the SSD Market

Fremont, California. December 03, 2008- Flexstar Technology, Inc. (Flexstar) the worldwide leading supplier of storage test systems, today announced the first in a series of all new Green products that are being developed specifically for the SSD market; the Green 16A. The 16A is a 16 port ambient test system developed using state of the art technology to reduce the environmental impact of the hardware. The Green 16A is capable of testing up to 16 2.5” or 1.8” SSD’s and is designed to be used in four environments; design engineering, production testing, RMA processing and customer qualifications. It supports two interfaces: SATA and SAS up to 6G. The Green 16A has designed-in capability to support direct attach PCIe. It can run on 110v power and is designed to sit on a desktop or to be cascaded with other 16A’s in a 19” rack to comprise a large integrated test system. The design of the 16A allows for easy upgrades in the field as new interfaces become available. It supports all previously written customer tests scripts from older Flexstar products making the transition to the 16A effortless and simple.

Flexstar has developed a new Single Board Computer (SBC) to power the Green 16A. “This is the third generation of SBC's developed by Flexstar and ensures our many SSD customers of the added throughput capabilities that are required now and in future as competing manufactures develop faster SSD’s” said Tim Beck Vice President of Marketing and Sales. He added “our new SBC III uses a dual core Intel processor and a PCIe bus. Each lane has the ability to run over 2.5 Gbs. We will be transitioning our new SBC III to other Green Flexstar products over the coming year.”

Anthony (Tony) Lavia President and CEO had this insight into the new Green 16A system and Flexstar continued effort toward their Green product offerings “Flexstar continues on a very fast pace to develop new more energy efficient products for our customers. The Green 16A fills a huge hole in the SSD market today. This is the first product that provides standardized testing for SSD manufactures, and their customers. The 16A is a turnkey testing system with complimentary SSD test scripts for drive testing and qualification. Added Tony “now SSD customers who want to qualify drives for their products will be able to have standardized test hardware and run standardized tests that are meaningful to them and the manufactures. All at affordable prices”

The price of the Green 16A is under $10,000 and includes all Flexstar operation system software and a library of standardized SSD test scripts for immediate out of the box testing capability.

Flexstar’s Green 16A delivers accurate, flexible and repeatable testing, which Flexstar is known for in the industry, in a new energy savings package.
